Kwame Brown to sign with the Pistons

Kwame is going to sign a two-year deal worth $8 million. That’s a bargain, in my opinion.
So why didn’t the Lakers get Kwame? Did they try to get him but he refused? I’m sure the boo-ing of the Laker fans is still fresh in his mind but Phil Jackson and Tex Winter has always been high on Kwame. He’s a bust offensively but they respect his defensive skills.
And $8 million for 2 years? Wow! The Pistons, allegedly, will put Kwame at center to let Rasheed take his natural spot at power forward. The Pistons, in my opinion, just got tougher. I don’t know but it seems to me the Celtics are being challenged by the Pistons right away by this trade.
I’m still in awe on how the Pistons acquired this guy (for how much). Hey Mitch, can you please tell me why Kwame isn’t back in the Lakers squad? For only $8 million and 2 years? I know this contract is “overpriced” but Kwame is a big and he’s better than the likes of Turiaf, Mbenga or Perkins.
Some might say I’m forgetting one thing that I didn’t actually forget - forget the luxury tax! Kwame for 2 years and $8 million is something you have to pull for.

I don’t agree. I think Kwame isn’t welcomed in LA because he’s not good enough for the Lakers to let him get a free ride to a ring. And $8 million for a guy that would shadow the tremendous Lakers front line? Not worth it. I don’t know how he’ll do in Detroit, but I’m not a big fan of the pickup.

You have a very valid point. I’m just not that confident with Bynum’s health.
I know I’m being negative but it’s just the pessimistic nature of my being a Laker fan.
