Bryant, Odom, Fisher sit out Lakers practice to rest bumps, bruises

EL SEGUNDO - Kobe Bryant had a wound under his left eye and his cheek was puffy. Lamar Odom had ice packs strapped to his knees. Derek Fisher had …

Well, Fisher wasn’t available for comment, so it wasn’t immediately certain how his left knee fared in the hours after Monday’s no-holds- barred overtime victory against the Golden State Warriors in Oakland.

Coach Phil Jackson gave those three the day off from practice Tuesday morning, less than 24 hours after they helped to lead the Lakers to a 123-119 win that highlighted their gritty side. They were bruised but not beaten by night’s end.

“Puffy eye, bum ankle, I’m done, shelve me for five games,” Bryant joked.

Bum ankle? What bum ankle?

Bryant revealed he sprained his ankle in Sunday’s loss to the Warriors. He then mocked the powers of observation of beat reporters, telling them he was so tough that they didn’t even notice that had been injured. - LA Daily News
