The world of sports is nothing more than so many male soap operas, story lines twisting and turning every so often to keep things fresh and exciting.
For the Los Angeles Lakers, the melodrama over the past year has been well documented: the team wasn’t good enough for its superstar, the franchise initially did nothing to appease their franchise player, but things eventually worked themselves out because of the surprising play of his young teammates.
Following along? Well then one of those teammates goes down with a knee injury and the squad got even better by outsourcing the center position to a Spaniard. And now . . . . what’s next?
Recent injury updates on Andrew Bynum’s knee indicate that the 20-year old center, who had just shed his greenhorn status and became a consistent contributor, may not return to the lineup until the NBA’s version of a tournament in late April.
